Bio
Tom Thompson has spent his career working with what he enjoys: learning about the latest science/technology (especially rocketry) and explaining how it works. He has been a field engineer in the oil patch, a subcontractor doing embedded programming for NASA, a senior technical editor writing expository articles at BYTE magazine, and a technical writer. As a technical writer, he worked for several multinational companies documenting their microcontrollers, microprocessors, microcomputers, virtual machines, and cloud computing services. Not only did he write the documents on these subjects, he often wrote example programs on how to use their features. Outside of work, he wrote several shareware utilities for the Apple Macintosh computer, a programming book, and a commercial iPhone app.
These efforts give Tom a rich technical background and depth of experience that he applies to his fiction. His works span many genres: space opera, action-adventure, urban fantasy, sword and sorcery, hard science fiction, horror, and humor.
