Dara Kountz

BioDara Kountz is an author with a passion for storytelling that crosses boundaries and genres. Born in the rugged beauty of Alaska and raised in the foothills of the Arizona Rockies, she has called the Dallas Metroplex home for over 12 years. A devout Christian and active member of the Church of Christ.

Her writing spans lengths from flash fiction to novelettes to novels, with genres ranging from horror and fantasy to urban fantasy, cyberpunk, and post-apocalyptic science fiction. Dara also pens faith based writings, bringing her unique voice to this meaningful genre. She honed her craft through years of writing fan fiction, channeling her creativity into original works that captivate and resonate with readers.

Dara’s published works include the fantasy short stories Soul Sword and Red Riding Cap, the urban fantasy novel Don’t Call Me Hero as well as the upcoming supernatural fantasy Hold My Bunny. Known for juggling multiple projects at once—never fewer than three—Dara thrives on bringing imaginative worlds and complex characters to life. She draws inspiration from favorite authors like Naomi Novik, T. Kingfisher, and Georgette Heyer.

When not writing or presenting panels at comic cons, Dara immerses herself in hobbies like sewing, knitting, crocheting, cosplay, LARPing, and GMing RPGs. She’s also an avid fan of manwhas and webtoons, fueling her vibrant imagination. 

With a few books slated for publication throughout 2025, Dara invites readers to join her on her ever-expanding journey of storytelling. Fun, quirky, and endlessly creative, she’s excited to share her world with you!
